About this course
This Epilepsy Awareness training course is aimed at those working with or responsible for the welfare and well-being of individuals with epilepsy, although it might also be useful to a wider audience of people who would like to know more about epilepsy.
This course is a great way to get to grips with the basics. Participants will gain knowledge on epilepsy, the different types of seizures and seizure classification, how it is diagnosed as well as some of the treatments available and the importance of supporting individuals to take medication as directed by their doctor. It also includes first aid training for a tonic-clonic seizure and the importance of risk assessment, care planning and documentation.
What you’ll learn
Have an awareness of what Epilepsy is, its causes, diagnosis, and treatments available.
Recognise different types of seizures and how they present and recognise when a situation becomes an emergency and how to deal with it promptly.
Know how to safely care for someone having a seizure and what to do post-seizure.
Identify risks associated with epilepsy.
Provide First Aid for an individual having a convulsive seizure.
Know what documentation is required following a seizure.
This course can be delivered as a standalone session or together with Rescue Medication for Epilepsy in one complete day as per your requirements.
