About this course
Getting it right from the start is key for staff retention and ensuring staff have the knowledge and skills they need to do their job effectively and support their organisation to deliver a safe, effective, responsive, and caring service.
What exactly will be needed during the induction period will vary by organisation and role, but some things are consistent for all.
For people joining the adult social care sector, the Care Inspectorate expects regulated providers to provide an induction that at minimum covers the following topics:
What you’ll learn

Moving and Handling of People.
Adult Support and Protection and Promoting Positive Behaviour.
Infection, Prevention and Control.
Personal Care, Promotion of Continence, Nutrition, Assisting with Food and Drink.
Basic Life Support.
This induction course can be delivered in a number of flexible formats: a 5 day block or day release. The materials and certificates provided underpin the knowledge and evidence which can be used when the carer commences their SVQ.
